Peak season fills itself. The rest of the year tells the truth.

When demand is high, almost every hotel sells out. The difference shows elsewhere: in the rate guests are willing to pay, in how your photos look next to newer hotels in a search, in the quieter months, and in reviews that mention, in passing, that the rooms are a little dated.

These signs are easy to miss when the business is running well. But every season the gap to newer competitors grows, and the refurbishment you eventually face gets bigger, more expensive and harder to time.

How it works

Most refurbishments are a leap of faith. This one isn't.

  1. Find what's holding you back.

We analyse your guest sentiment, online presence and competitors. Then we design a concept for your own rooms.

Concept A for a guest room: bold scheme with navy and orange bedding and a gallery wall
Concept B for the same guest room: calm sage scheme with a slatted timber headboard and a mustard throw
Two concepts for the same room
  2. Test it on two or three rooms.

Refurbish a small set of rooms, reusing what's already there where it works. List them as a new room category, such as Superior.

  3. Measure.

Over a few weeks, compare rate, occupancy, booking speed and reviews against your existing rooms.

  4. Roll out what works.

Extend the concept to the rest of the hotel in phases around your low season, without closing, and with real numbers behind every euro.

Start with an Opportunity Audit.

A fixed-fee first step to see what your hotel could become, before committing to a larger project.

Ask about an audit

You'll receive:

  • An analysis of your guest sentiment and competitors, with a target rate for the new rooms.
  • The changes worth making, ranked by impact, cost and effort.
  • What to keep, upcycle or replace, so the budget goes where guests notice.
  • Concept visuals and budget bands for the test rooms.

20 years

She helped open and run hostels in Spain and Portugal, then spent six years publishing a guide that selected one hostel to feature in every major city across both countries. For twenty years she has run Goodtimes Lagos, a travel guide to Lagos, Portugal, so she knows what makes travellers choose one place over another.

In Berlin she ran her own interior design and production studio for eight years. Ecosia, Brunswick Group, Egmont Publishing and Frontier Car Group trusted her with their workplaces, from finding the building and reworking the floor plan through to opening day. Many came back to her for their next office.

For the past five years she has focused on design and visualisation, producing photorealistic 3D visuals for more than 80 commercial real estate commissions for one of Europe's largest retailers. They are used in negotiations with cities and property owners.

For your hotel, that means concepts grounded in how the business makes money, visuals that can actually be built, and a plan your team can deliver.

“Alexis has done an amazing job designing the Ecosia office! She has an excellent sense of style and is very good at finding cost-effective design solutions.”
Christian Kroll, CEO, Ecosia
“Alexis has a wonderful intuition for design and taste. She has designed three offices of companies of mine. She does not only know how to make things look nice, but she also takes into account sustainability. Plus, she has always executed things in a very hands-on and affordable manner.”
Tim Schumacher, Entrepreneur and investor
